What's my name
CD
SGRCD004
13.11.2009.

A repprokkreggi munkacímen készült 14 számos anyagon a Maffia csapatának jól ismert sztárénekesei, Sena, Columbo és Busa Pista mellett a közönségkedvenc Mc Kemon, valamint a jamaikai énekes Blessed is közreműködik.

A What's My Name?! című album az első lemezhez hasonlóan sokszínű alkotás, azonban a hetvenes évek mellett ezúttal napjaink modern hangzásvilága is hatott a Maffia zenei kavalkádjára. A reggae zenekarként elkönyvelt funkos, rockos, hiphoppos csapat ezúttal némi elektronikát is a lemezre csempészett.

The Uptown Felaz
First Gear Ep!
12" / DIGITAL
SGR12002
29.06.2009.

After successful releases on Pulver and WahWah45s, The Uptown Felaz from Hungary are proud to present the first release on their own label, Shiftin' Gears! This 4 track EP includes 3 original tracks and a remix from russian rising star Valique (Freestyle Records/UK) A great 12" release for all lovers of quality music worldwide and a must buy for all funkbreak fans!

Colombia
Tropical funk from Budapest! "Colombia" showcases The Uptown Felaz in action - this is 100% latin funk with live trooper bass and heavy percussion! Huge doses of funk with great dancefloor appeal! This has been tested in local clubs for a while and it's sure to do the trick!

Uptown Theme (Original + Valique Remix)
The title itself says it all! This tune contains all elements that are indispensable components of The Uptown Felaz vibration! Super cool funk vibes with an even cooler swing breakdown, a great solo by trumpet virtuoso Lőrinc Barabás and finally the unmissible reference to hip-hop presented by DJ Future's scratch variation. The remix was done by russian rising star Valique (Freestyle Records/UK) in a slow swing house style. Both versions were supported by Craig Charles in his Funk And Soul Show.

Eastern Street
"Eastern Street" is the result of a few Sunday live recording sessions, which usually take place at our record store, Deep, which also functions as a studio during the weekends. The tune could easily serve as the soundtrack for any chase scene in The Streets of San Francisco or Starsky & Hutch! Check it out for yourself if you don't believe us! This bit also includes a guest appearance by local trumpet hero Lőrinc Barabás, who even shared a stage with the mighty Nicola Conte here in Budapest!

Menza is a local luxury restaurant situated in Liszt Ferenc square, one of the hippest places in Budapest. The cds follows a day in the life of this fabulous eating place from an early morning breakfast coffee through a delicate lunch menu till we arrive at the lovely late night cocktails.
Contemporary soul plays a major role but latin and funk elements were also included by the compilers & label owners The Uptown Felaz. Performers featured on this compilation include renowned artists such as Jazzanova, The Five Corners Quintett, New Mastersounds and The Dynamics. Hungarians also represent with 2 acts : Barabas Lorinc Ekletric and The Uptown Felaz.
The local trumpet player Lorinc Barabas and his band Ekletric became a very popular act in the past few years here in Hungary. May it be a club performance, a festival or an exhibiton the name Eklektric is a guarantee for a sold out night! The first Cd Ladal has already been repressed, from this album the reggae influnced track titled Wanna featuring female vocalist Sena was chosen.
The Uptown Felaz has been around for a while, they have done movie scores and had international releases on labels such as Pulver & WahWah45’s. The track titled Corcovado featuring the above mentioned trumpet virtuoso Lorinc Barabas is a reggae meets jazz combination, a perfect tune to end the compilation!
